Frequently Asked Questions

Can visitors still view images?
Yes. Leave Strict mode off to preserve normal image viewing.

Does this completely prevent downloading?
No. Displayed media must reach the browser. Browser tools, screenshots and other methods can still save it. Right-click blocking discourages casual saving.

What happens when someone opens a shared image link?
With right-click deterrence enabled and Strict mode off, ordinary browser visits to gallery image /full links redirect to the gallery viewing page. Requests that load the URL as an image continue to receive the image.

Can I hide the entire sharing area?
Yes. Enable Hide Share this media to remove the standard sharing area, including social buttons and all copy-link and BB code fields.

Can I keep some sharing features?
Yes. Leave Hide Share this media off. The direct image-link and image BB code shortcuts remain hidden while other sharing choices stay available.

What does Strict mode do?
It blocks gallery /full and gallery attachment endpoints on the server. This also stops full images displaying and may disrupt attachment-backed playback and embeds. It is optional and disabled by default on new installations.

What does “Block the gallery original-file endpoint” do?
It denies access through /original. This can affect image-editor previews, so leave it off if you need that functionality.

Are administrators exempt?
No. Enabled restrictions apply to everyone, including staff.

Will ordinary forum attachments be blocked?
No. Strict mode targets gallery attachments.

Does right-click blocking work everywhere?
It requires JavaScript and applies to gallery pages and gallery lightboxes. Browser overrides, external players and content displayed on other pages may behave differently.

Where are the settings?
Go to Admin CP → Setup → Options → [Talmyric] Media Download Control.

Which versions are supported?
Designed for XenForo/XFMG 2.3+ and built against the supplied 2.3.13 files. Test on a staging site before production use, especially with custom styles.
