Released Talmyric Conversation Scam Notice 2.3.16

No permission to download

Frequently Asked Questions

What triggers a warning?

The conversation starter must belong to at least one configured usergroup. If exclusive membership is enabled, they must have no memberships outside the selected groups.

Do secondary groups count?

Yes. Both the starter’s primary and secondary usergroups are checked.

How does exclusive membership work?

Every group the starter belongs to must be selected. For example, if the starter belongs to Registered and New Members, both groups must be selected for an exclusive match.

What happens if no groups are selected?

No warning is displayed.

Does the conversation starter see the warning?

No. The notice appears to recipients viewing a qualifying conversation.

Does the warning disappear after the first view?

No. It continues to appear while the starter meets the configured conditions. Only logging is limited to once per conversation and recipient pair.

Can I change the warning text?

Yes. Edit it in the add-on’s ACP options. Use {username} for the starter’s name and {user_id} for their numeric user ID. Administrator-provided HTML is supported, and inserted usernames are HTML escaped.

Does the notice mean the starter is a scammer?

No. It is a precaution based on your configured group memberships. It does not determine whether a member or transaction is trustworthy.

Can I disable logging without disabling warnings?

Yes. Warnings continue to appear. Views made while logging is disabled do not create log entries or permanent seen records.

Will refreshing a conversation create duplicate logs?

No. Each conversation and recipient pair is logged once.

What happens if I delete or prune a log?

The visible entry is removed, but its separate permanent deduplication record remains. Viewing that conversation again will not recreate the log.

What does the CSV download include?

All currently visible logs, including conversation and user details, warning timestamps in UTC, and IP addresses. Previously deleted or pruned entries are not included.

What does “Prune logs” delete?

It deletes the visible entries included when the confirmation popup opened. New entries recorded afterward and all permanent deduplication records are preserved.

Can pruning be undone?

No. Download a CSV first if you need a copy of the visible records.

Can administrators open every conversation from the log?

No. Conversation links still follow XenForo’s normal conversation access permissions.

Will upgrading from AIXF preserve my data?

Yes. This release retains the technical AIXF/ConvScamNotice identity to support an in-place upgrade. Do not uninstall the existing add-on first.

Why do some folders and identifiers still say AIXF?

Those technical identifiers preserve upgrade continuity. The displayed product branding is Talmyric.

What happens if I uninstall the add-on?

Uninstalling deletes both log tables, including permanent deduplication history, and removes the add-on’s options. Back up before uninstalling.

Which XenForo versions does it support?

The declared minimum is XenForo 2.3.0. The package was reviewed against the supplied Talmyric XenForo 2.3.13 source. PHP syntax, XML, template compilation, and focused behavior checks passed; live installation and every individual 2.3 release have not been independently tested.

Will it work with a custom style?

It uses XenForo theme styling and an automatic template modification. A heavily modified conversation template may require an adjustment to the insertion point.
